この後すぐ雨が降るか知りたい時はレーダーをチェックしよう
こんにちは、Mです。
「これから泉に行くんだけど、泉は雨かな？」とか、
「ちょっと出かけるんだけど３時間後帰るときは傘が必要かな」
と思うことはありませんか？
そんな時には雨雲レーダーを使うと便利です。Yahoo!の天気情報のページなどで見ることができて、現在の雨雲の様子と６時間後までの雨雲の動きの予想を見ることができます。「雨が降りそうなんだけどギリギリ降ってない」というときや、ちょっと離れた所まで出かけるときに便利かもしれません。ちなみに「ウェザーニュース」では有料ではあるのですが、雨雲が近づいてくるとメールで知らせてくれるサービスなんかもやっています。
この気象レーダーは全国２０箇所に配備され、日本全土をカバーしているのですが、そのうち１台が仙台にあります。この仙台に配備されているレーダーが最近「ドップラーレーダー」というレーダーにパワーアップしたようですね。以前のレーダーは空に向けて電波を出し、反射してきた電波によって雨雲が存在するかを判断していただけだったのですが、ドップラーレーダーはその名の通り「ドップラー効果」を利用して反射してきた電波の微妙な変化で雨粒の動きまでわかるんだそうです。（ドップラー効果というのは救急車が通り過ぎると音が変わる現象のことです。電波でも似たような事が起きるんですね）
ただし！１つ注意があって、このレーダーは厳密に言うと「雨」ではなくて「雲」を見ているんですよ。つまり「雨が降っている」のを見ているのではなく、「雨を降らせているっぽい雲」がレーダーに映っているので、完璧でない場合もあります。
まだ見たことがない人は一度見てみてはどうでしょう？結構使えると思いますよ！
